John 12:42-44

⁴² Nevertheless, among the chief rulers many believed on him. But because of the Pharisees, they would not acknowledge it, lest they should be excommunicated. ⁴³ For they loved the praise that is given by men more than the praise that comes of God.

⁴⁴ And Jesus cried out and said, He who believes on me, believes not on me, but on him who sent me.
